Kemetic Life Skills Series
Sebai Maa on BlogTalkRadio
Class 1 04/26/2014
With this new series Sebai Maa will present practical methods, based on the teachings of Shetaut Neter for living a Kemetic, spiritual life. Many new and old practitioners of the teaching regularly and typically have questions about how to integrate and how to implement the Kemetic lifestyle into one’s daily life. The Kemetic Life Skills series is designed to do just that. Each show in this series will feature three components:
1. Kemetic Diet – for the physical body.
2. Kemetic Philosophy – for enlightening one’s mind.
3. Kemetic Wisdom – for the practice specifically for informal and formal meditation.
Every week the three components will be covered and feature a related subject or topic.
KEMETIC DIET FOR THE PHYSICAL BODY
(Food for the Body)
In this first class the theme for this first component that was discussed by Sebai Maa was The Kemetic Diet which follows a balanced vegetarian or vegan diet and the need for nutritional supplements in modern times. This is a life skill that needs to be acquired, or to be adopted in order to promote positive nutritional health of the body and of mind because your mind needs a certain nutrition and chemical balance in order to function properly. If that is not there, if you have nutritional imbalance, you will not be able to think properly and even not be able to act properly, you will not be able to feel and desire things properly.
The basis of the Kemetic Diet is greenery and the best way to achieve this is through fresh vegetables and green juicing. Since the soil we now have is deficient in nutrients and contaminated with chemicals from over fertilization, radiation from nuclear plants, etc. the following supplements are recommended from the 2001 edition of “The Kemetic Diet Book”: Calcium, magnesium, Co-enzyme Q10; flax for Omega 3; a good general daily vitamin; digestive enzymes and probiotics. The daily vitamin should contain B12 and folic acid. All supplements should be of good quality vegetarian sources.
KEMETIC PHILOSOPHY FOR ENLIGHTENING THE MIND
(Food for the Mind)
The theme Sebai Maa’s discussed here is the importance of right thinking, health of the mind, how to relieve stress and anxiety so we may reflect that right thinking in our actions and the importance of
keeping with good association, being in the company of those Sages and Saints for proper guidance to discern the Truth from delusion and who are righteous in actions and staying away from hot-headed, dull personalities.
KEMETIC WISDOM FOR FORMAL AND INFORMAL MEDITATION
(Food for the Soul)
Sebai Maa discussed the life skill of informal and formal meditation using selections from the Pertemheru text to bring forth the teaching and meditation practice for today. Everything that you do that is not sitting in a posture, quiet and with your eyes closed, doing the chants, visualization, breathing so on so forth everything that you do that is not that, is referred to by us as informal meditation. Because those things are actually shaping your mind in such a way that it will lead to a positive capacity to have health and to be able to have right thinking and balance and order and peace. Then you can sit in a full meditation to be able to with a calm mind delve into the inner reaches that are beyond time and space.
Books referenced or used during this class were: The Kemetic Diet, Wisdom Texts of Sage Ani, Proverbs and the PRT M HRU Chapter 21- Chapter for warding off crocodiles that come to take a person’s words of power in the Netherworld.
In this first class we learned the importance of and explanations of why an aspirant of the Shetaut Neter would follow a vegetarian/vegan diet how it aids in the health not only of the body but also of the mind so we may make life choices based in truth not delusion. Also the importance of an authentic teacher and keeping good association with them. Finally, through the discipline of meditation, we may find a peace, calm time to be able to commune with the Divine Self within all of us to assist us in relieving stress, dis-ease and anxieties of our daily lives and ultimately transcend them.
This concludes the first Kemetic Life Skills class.

KEMETIC DIET FOR THE PHYSICAL BODY
(Food for the Body)
In our second week, Sebai Maa related the life skill for the physical body that pertains to hygiene. In his reading from the Stele of Djehuty Nefer, he emphasized this point referring to consuming pure foods and pure thoughts, etc. This brief statement contains the wisdom in a condensed formula. Consume pure foods for physical purity by a vegetarian diet, a diet of non-processed foods along with the supplements. With pure thoughts for internal purity which refers to having right thinking. You need to study the Wisdom teaching to understand what is truth for right thinking as opposed to following the delusions of the world.Without physical purity, you will be disturbed, your mind will be disturbed because of ill health and your spiritual practice will be disturbed as well. It is suggested you bathe once daily but depending on the level of activity you may need to bathe twice daily.
Sebai Maa’s shared a Kemetic Proverb comparing an infants soul to an adult’s.
This referred not only to the physical bulk of the body but also the weightiness of worldly delusions. Resistance – negative diet of meats, processed foods leads to ill health and malnutrition but leads to a denseness of mind and denseness of the soul. You need to be spiritually sensitive and light not just in terms of physical weight but also the constitution.
KEMETIC PHILOSOPHY FOR ENLIGHTENING THE MIND
(Food for the Mind)
Sebai Maa’s Life Skills for this section of the class related to the skill of mental purity; the skill of living a life that is conducive to mental balance, that is conducive to company with Sages. Creating a pure personality that allows the Spirit to come to it so understanding may come to such a mind. Sebai Maa related these teaching through Kemetic proverbs one referring to no Divinity in an unclean Temple and one citing the Mind, the Begetter of the Word, the Redeemer as well as the teachings from Chapter 30 of Amenemope which advised us to heed the 30 Precepts for ignorant as well as mature personalities to continue to learn.
Couple main points here is the Divinity is always there but due to the impurities you are unable to perceive it and that mind, higher intellect comes to those who have lead a pious life, those who are ethically good personalities, merciful, they are religious, pure. The Divine Awareness dawns on those personalities that have pursued this kind of redeeming lifestyle as opposed to those who pursue a worldly lifestyle that degrades the mind.
KEMETIC WISDOM FOR FORMAL AND INFORMAL MEDITATION
(Food for the Soul
Sebai Maa’s life skill for the soul is the teaching of heroism, the teaching of will. Obtained first through faith, faith in your teacher, in yourself and then going beyond faith having a capacity to have the power yourself. Then teaching of the soul can become effective.
Sebai Maa read further from Chapter 21 of the PMH – Chapter of warding off crocodile demons that come to take away a person’s words of power in the Netherworld. They deal with heroism to fight against the crocodiles as opposed to being pulled under by them. Remain in balance and clarity. He also read from the Gloss from the PMH Chapter 21 – The translation for this chapter was based primarily on the of Auf Ankh and others dedicated to warding off the negative demons that reside in the Netherworld. The demons are usually depicted as animal forms in a mythical sense these represent the dark forces which emerge in the mind of an unrighteous person. This chapter contains a short powerful rubric. These relate to repelling demons and not allowing oneself to be devoured by those demons.
The aspirant recognizes that he is Asar, Heru, Anpu he is one with the One Divine Self, the Supreme Divinity who is the source of the Gods/Goddesses. He is silent as a scribe who is just watching and reading the words the words are satisfying within themselves. The words are heard and that is enough that is contentment. He is in control of his capacity to be reborn or not. He is free and peaceful because he lives on the offerings to Asar as he is Asar as well. You are to realize your high essence so you control your mind, your feelings, your fate.
Sebai concluded the class with the “Nuk pu Nuk, I am that I am” meditation.
Books used during this week’s class are:
The Kemetic Diet Book
Chapter 21 of the Prt M Hru and gloss related to that chapter.
Readings from the Stele of Djehuty Nefer and Chapter 30 of Amenemope teachings
Kemetic Proverbs: 1. Comparing infants souls to adult souls 2. No Divinity in an unclean Temple 3. Mind as Begetter of the Word
Sebai Maa highlighted the life skills of hygiene of the body, purity of mind and heroism of the soul. I find each of these important as they each play their part in your spiritual transformation leading you to the ultimate goal of enlightenment. It is important to keep you body clean and healthy so you may then be clear in your mind and be able to concentrate. Once you can concentrate you can then meditate further delving deeper and transcending.

Kemetic Life Skills
Sebai Maa on Blogtalk Radio Series
Class 3 05-10-2014
Link for audio recording:
During the third week’s show of the Kemetic Life Skills series, Sebai Maa answered questions presented to him then proceeded with the first two components of the course, Body and Mind. The component on Soul will be presented next week as time did not allow for it during this show.
A question from Asar Khnum regarding whether we really have power over the Neteru, the Cosmic Forces was raised. Sebai Maa explained we do indeed have power over the Neteru if we realize that power and that there are positive and negative Neteru. He used a metaphor of walking into a dark room and stepping on something that feels like a snake and you run in fear but you return later and turn on the light and realize it was only a hose or a rope, something that can be used and be helpful. In this metaphor the world, its troubles as well as its joys are like that illusory snake. You just don’t realize it. The Neteru are Cosmic Forces that are manifesting as the objects of Creation through vibration. Since you don’t realize what they really are they have power over you to cause fear within you. If you were to realize that you have the power, that you know what it is and can control it, its power over you dissolves.
KEMETIC DIET FOR THE PHYSICAL BODY
(Food for the Body)
Sebai Maa discussed life skill for the physical health of the body through exercise using Proverbs and readings from the Kemetic Diet Book and citing the Egyptian Yoga Exercise book. Most people think of the Tjef Neteru the postures or Movements of the Gods and Goddesses. In order to have proper worldly experiences that can lead you to higher consciousness you have to have good physical health. Otherwise you are not going to be able to have elevating, enlightening experiences. It helps to develop the Sekhem, the Life Force Energy, it is used to promote health of the subtle conduits and also health of proper movement of thoughts, the proper movement of mind.
Postures help to bring health to the physical body but also to the mind as well. When you practice physical exercise only or you practice yoga just for the physical benefits you are not gaining a higher kind of process that is possible. The life skill is to develop a proper context of exercise. You are to use the exercise in proper context, do the internal as well as the external to have a proper foundation for the higher goals of life. Exercise to calm yourself, relax to steady your mind that is proper usage but you must do other things in order to promote a calm mind. Do proper exercise in context and realize the higher dimensions of the practice of exercise. This is inherent in the Tjef Neteru – The Movements of the Gods and Goddesses. You physically act the way they do. You’re going to start learning about them so you can think the way they do. You are going to look the way they do and also eventually feel and then of course, be like them that is the actual goal. Its not just about doing the physical postures.
KEMETIC PHILOSOPHY FOR ENLIGHTENING THE MIND
(Food for the Mind)
Sebai Maa explained the difference between the lower and the higher mysteries and how we must master the lower to gain the higher mysteries. If you think about things in the world as in the previous metaphor as if they are the snake you are following the illusion of them. He first used Proverbs related to emotions and controlling them will allow you to be a master of them not a slave to them. In a reading from the Kemetic Diet Book, Sebai Maa related all were on a spiritual stairway where you must determine where you are on that stairway by your lifestyle choices. The life skill here to learn is what you experience and express is controlled by your mind. Your mind is developed by your experiences that you have moved towards in the past that cause you to have a basis of energies, feelings and tendencies. What choice will you make in the future?
Sebai Maa read several proverbs pertaining to emotions. When you are controlled by your emotions, feelings, your fears, your desires you are the slave to those things because you have not understood the illusion of life that you are following. Once you are mature and you discover your own essence and the power you have then the power that the illusions had no longer have power over you. Here Sebai Maa is talking about the negative Neteru, negative energies, negative vibrations, feelings, thoughts, desires. These lead to ill health, negative emotional state and unbalanced mind. Since the mind is the vehicle of your soul your soul is then lead to ruination also, unhappiness in life, death and reincarnation instead of enlightenment. The source of all problems in life are these unresolved, negative and distorted perverted kind of mental process that is caused by ignorance that leads to egoism. Therefore this is the real enemy that is to be vanquished and of course that is Set, the Battle between Heru and Set.
Book: The Kemetic Diet Book
Proverbs: 1. Health being the daughter of exercise 2. Two proverbs on Emotions 3. On harmony with the Earth.
In this third week of Life Skills classes we learn the importance of physical exercise in proper context not just for physical health but to promote a healthy body that will develop a mature mind that to live be able to know the illusory nature of the world, control emotions and live righteously for further spiritual development and eventually the capacity to attain enlightenment.

KEMETIC DIET FOR THE PHYSICAL BODY
(Food for the Body)
In Class 4, Sebai Maa’s focus for the body was on vegetarianism, the gross feelings for the first section (body). He used the food pyramid from the Kemetic Diet Book to illustrate, its foundation is the physical food, then food for the mind and the food for the soul which completes the pyramid, the trinity and these lead to self-knowledge. In order to have the proper food for the body, mind and soul you have to have a vegetarian, green diet. You see your food as an offering with the chant: Htp di si NTR iri mettu wadj to make your Mettu (conduits) of your body green instead of clogged up with meat and junk foods. Greenery is the opposite of the standard American diet with lots of meat, chicken, fish and including dairy. In using the Kemetic Diet Book he also pointed out many statistics regarding health of the body related to a vegetarian diet as opposed to the standard Western diet which includes, meat, fish, fowl and dairy. Though this book was written in 2001 many of the proofs are even higher now for the advantages of a vegetarian diet being lower rates of cancers, heart disease, cholesterol levels. A quote by Dr. Andrew Weil was read by Sebai Maa and essentially what Dr. Weil is saying is that modern medicine can handle acute infectious illness, and of course trauma but they cannot handle chronic degenerative diseases. Following a Kemetic vegetarian diet helps to purify the gross impurities (diseases, ill health) of the body so one may then have the capacity to work on the gross impurities of the mind.
KEMETIC PHILOSOPHY FOR ENLIGHTENING THE MIND
(Food for the Mind)
For this week Sebai Maa’s theme for the mind was positive feeling and positive thinking. The cure for the gross impurities of the mind: “Un en ka un medjat.” “Feed the mind what is abiding, what is true.” Implying that things we are feeding the mind are not true, not abiding, not pure. He used the Kemetic Diet Book for a foundation citing: 3 kinds of states of mind: dull, agitated and the lucid state. There are 2 basic poles of mental operation, there is dullness and there is lucidity. In between there is agitation, fluctuation between the two. The dull mind is beset with anger, depression, hatred, unrest in varying degrees. The lucid mind which operates on higher universal principles and self-knowledge or faith in the Divine is free of or experiences less depression, worry, anxiety etc.
Sebai Maa used Teaching #3 from Merri Ka Ra and the key to that teaching was good nature allows a man/woman to experience heaven. The person of the angry and agitated ones is a pain to themselves. Good nature is another way of saying positive feeling and positive feeling is cultivated by positive thinking. The practice of positive thinking allows new impressions to be formed in the unconscious mind and those will blossom in the form of positive feeling.
In sharing a Proverb Sebai Maa told us how we should strive to see with the inner eye as it sees the Essence. Intuition then is the most important quality to develop. Intuitional realization of the higher self that is the path of Aset, allowing the mind to take flight, to raise itself above the negative grounding of foods of the body and mind, grounding emotions, egoistic feelings and thoughts. Then a person is able to take flight to lead themselves to purity and higher consciousness.
KEMETIC WISDOM FOR FORMAL AND INFORMAL MEDITATION
(Food for the Soul)
In this segment Sebai Maa read from the Prt M Hru Chapter 19 Line 4. His commentary about the chapter is saying that after doing the invocations and doing the practices that are enjoined earlier you have brought the God Khnum who is a kind of builder foundation for your Djeddu, your Djed is your backbone, your life force energy centers discussed earlier. The Goddess Sesheta is essentially in this context your establishment in Truth, in correctness, in accuracy by living a life by accuracy instead of a life of lies, inaccuracies, of burdens, of making excuses for yourself and saying and doing negative things. This invocation is telling you now that you have made the journey, you’ve invoked the power of the Divinities within yourself, now when the wind is blowing from the north, you face the north. If the wind is blowing from the east you face the east. You don’t have to run from the wind, you don’t have to run from whatever is coming your way, you face it and you just sit there and just let it come and you realize that you don’t have to move, you don’t have to shy away or turn your face away you can face the truth, you can face reality, you can face life whatever direction it is coming from, whatever challenges and know you will be able to make it through.
Sebai Maa explained the Kemetic word: “Hessed” meaning full relaxation and rest so you may experience your higher self through the breath, concentration and mediation. Any direction you face you’re facing your higher self essentially and the wind that blows is the Life Force that enlivens you, the expression of life that is your power. You are able to accept that, express that and live in and through that, then you will have a life of purity, fulfillment, and peace.
Books used for this week:
Kemetic Diet Book
Failure of Modern Medicine by Dr. Andrew Weil
Prt M Hru Chapter 19 Line 4
Teaching #3 from Merri Ka Ra
Proverb: related to seeing with the inner eye, heart, intuition.
In this class we learned the importance of a vegetarian diet related to the gross impurities of the body and why that is to be cleansed. During the mind segment the theme of positive feeling and positive thinking brings about a lifestyle of good nature which is an important quality for further development. In the food for the soul section we learn to allow ourselves to relax, rest in meditation so you may experience your authentic, true self.
